Thank the Senate for Passing Legislation to Prevent Child Marriage

childmarriageactionalertOn May 24, the U.S. Senate passed the International Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage Act (S.414).

This legislation recognizes the practice of child marriage as a human rights violation, requires the development of a multi-year strategy to address child marriage and integrates successful interventions to prevent child marriage into existing development programs.

The Senate's passage of S.414 sends a strong message on the importance of prioritizing child marriage prevention.

Please take a moment to thank your Senator for supporting this critical legislation and for raising awareness about the more than 60 million girls and young women in developing countries who are married before the age of 18.
