Pledge to Stop Violence Against Women

Equality. #NowMoreThanEver. Sign the pledge.

One in three women globally is physically or sexually abused in her lifetime. Gender inequality puts women and girls in the crosshairs of violence and discrimination every day.

Female survivors of this kind of violence are often young or vulnerable. For the one in three girls who marry before turning 18 in the developing world, that union puts them at even greater risk for abuse and violence. For women and girls displaced by war, violence or natural disasters, abuse and forced sexual violence is common. And women are more vulnerable to sexual violence in emergencies and natural disasters. Even in stable contexts the most common form of violence that women face globally is domestic violence or violence from intimate partners.

No matter where we live, inequality exists and harms women and girls around us. We know that things are changing – and in many countries the acceptance of violence against women is decreasing. But it will take every one of us – women and men, girls and boys, standing in solidarity from every corner of the world to end gender inequality and address the injustice of violence.

We need to break down the walls of inequality, Now More Than Ever. Pledge to stand up for the one in three women affected by this violence.

Together with CARE Action, I will support gender equality to stop the pervasive violence against women and girls worldwide.
