All too often, babies and young children go to bed with rumbling bellies. Over the long term, their growth is stunted. They become vulnerable to disease. Some get so weak that they cannot move their heads or cry. Many do not make it through the night.

A child dies every six seconds of hunger or related causes. A staggering 17,000 children die from starvation every day.

But it doesn't have to be this way. CARE can provide a child with a warm, nutritious meal at school for just 11¢ a day — that's less than $20 for the whole school year or $10 a semester.
