What We Do
CARE is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to fighting poverty and social injustice. We place special emphasis on investing in women and girls because our six decades of experience show that their empowerment benefits whole communities.
In 72 countries, CARE projects advance education, improve health, increase economic opportunity, and meet emergency needs during and after disasters. Underpinning all our work is a commitment to using evidence-based policy advocacy to address underlying causes of poverty, such as poor governance, gender inequity, and economic and social exclusion.
By working side by side with communities to create lasting solutions that respect local culture and knowledge, CARE will make substantial, measurable contributions to the Millennium Development Goal of halving the proportion of people living on less than $1 a day by 2015.
