Lives are hanging in the balance

An ongoing civil war and a severe drought in Somalia is driving tens of thousands of people to seek refuge across the border in to the Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya. However, Dadaab is extremely beyond capacity and the influx of new arrivals is straining already-limited resources.

The refugees are exhausted, weak and dispirited — and they are not alone. There are 10 million people in the Horn of Africa facing the most severe food crisis in the world today and the worst drought to affect the region in 60 years. There is little likelihood of the food crisis and drought letting up until 2012.

But, you can do something right now starting with a tax-deductible gift that can help save lives today.
