The need for U.S. leadership has never been greater – aid alone cannot eliminate suffering globally, including in Yemen. The House of Representatives is about to cast a critical vote on the future of America's involvement in the war in Yemen - and they need to hear from you.

Tell your members of Congress to address the root cause of the humanitarian crisis by calling for an end to the conflict in Yemen and urging the Administration to end U.S. military support for the war.

I am joining CARE Action advocates in calling on you to help protect the lives of the most vulnerable people in Yemen, including women and girls. The humanitarian crisis is entirely man-made, fueled by year upon year of war. The crisis has cut so deep and lasted so long that aid alone cannot keep Yemenis alive and safe. The only thing that will truly ease the suffering of the Yemeni people is to end the war which is bolstered by U.S. military support.

Please urge the Administration to use the diplomatic influence of the United States to promote peace and pursue every opportunity for a resolution to the conflict and an end to hostilities by all parties involved. Nearly 100,000 Yemenis have been killed since the beginning of the conflict and countless others have died from the side effects of war  hunger and disease. Millions of innocent Yemeni lives are in the balance and the people of Yemen simply can't wait any longer for an end to their suffering.

I am grateful that Congress has been working to address the humanitarian needs in Yemen with generous foreign assistance funding and calls for all parties to end hostilities, but the export of billions of dollars in U.S. weapons to some of the countries waging war in Yemen is contributing to the crisis. Congress can further safeguard Yemeni lives by passing binding legislation to ban U.S. weapons sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE until the conflict in Yemen is resolved.

Yemen is currently the world's worst humanitarian crisis. 24 million people over 80 percent of the country's population  need humanitarian aid simply to survive. Nearly 10 million are on the brink of famine and over 3.5 million are displaced from their homes making them even more vulnerable to protection risks, disease, and food insecurity.

Now is the time for Congress to demonstrate that the will of the American people and the lives of innocent Yemeni civilians are a priority. Thank you for your leadership at this critical time.
