Did you know that in some parts of the world, up to half the children are being denied the opportunity to go to school? It isn't because they aren't smart enough. It isn't because they don't want to learn. It is because they are girls.
In some countries, almost twice as many boys go to school as girls. In other countries, many girls are forbidden to go to school.
At CARE, we want every girl to have the opportunity for an education. That's why we're expanding education and leadership opportunities for millions of girls in 33 countries around the world. Sending so many girls to school may seem like a huge task, but it isn't expensive. Just $49 can send a girl to school for a year!
Your support is critical to our goal. Help from generous donors has provided education opportunities in many of the countries where CARE works:
- In India CARE's Girls' Education Program is working with more than one million children and community members to increase educational opportunities for girls. We've helped triple girls' math performance in the target area!
- In Malawi we're working in 40 schools, not only helping students and teachers but also working with parents to help them understand the importance of allowing their children — both boys and girls — to stay in school.
- In Honduras we're working in six poor communities to improve the quality of education, increase school enrollment and curb child labor. Of the children now participating in their school government, 65% are girls!
That's critical. Learning means leadership! CARE provides education and leadership opportunities for millions of girls and helps them gain the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Please give today, and help girls around the world realize their full potential!
