CARE’s work in Egypt began in 1954 with the introduction of a nationwide school meals program. Today, CARE works to improve people’s livelihoods and provides support for women’s and girls’ leadership, quality education, and more effective and equitable farming and use of natural resources. CARE also provides emergency support during times of crisis. Right now in Egypt, 105 million people face hunger, as 85 percent of Egypt’s wheat and 73 percent of its sunflower oil come from Russia.
